A BAD DANCER is always “…” DISTURBED!

A BAD DANCER is hindered by “…”!
But this post is not about my legs. It’s about MOTIVATORS.

I recently decided to get yet another motivator: running shoes…
Not that I couldn’t run without them. Rather — I didn’t want to.
And I shouldn’t either (because of my back).
So now I’ll be walking, power-walking and… sometimes running.

We all have our own motivators. There are many, and they’re almost always invisibly present in most of our pursuits.
Explicit and implicit. The ones that inspire. And the ones that (oddly enough, in the end) push us away…
Choosing motivators for yourself is a whole science. Because together with a motivator you, sadly, also pre-select the… “antidote”.

And I’m not talking about the global “get up in the morning because the alarm rang,” but about bigger things like:

  • start working out,

  • learn a language,

  • quit smoking or drinking,

  • create a new business,

  • learn to play the guitar (or another instrument),

  • change your life…

Motivators are both friend and foe. If they’re chosen poorly, they won’t support or motivate you — they’ll disappoint you.
The problem is that a mismatched motivator isn’t just a local failure. It’s yet another small defeat. And the scary part is that, taken together, these small defeats make you lose faith in yourself.

And then your next drop-out from the race turns into a lost battle for yourself.

So if you’ve set a goal and suddenly realized it isn’t yours — don’t quit the game right away!
Change the rules to fit you. Invent new conditions. But don’t give up!

Your faith in yourself should transform a possible defeat into a period you come out of with experience.
And then you’ll simply place yet another positive facet of yourself on the shelf of your mind.

Will I stop running? Yes. One day.
But first these running shoes have to wear out!

And perhaps I won’t buy new ones — I’ll go to dance classes… Or somewhere else…
But I won’t be hindered by the very “…” from the first line of this post…

I won’t lose to myself. And don’t let yourself do that either! Because that’s exactly how the end of self-belief begins.
Believe in yourself. And if faith suddenly runs short — recall your childlike stubbornness and just don’t give up!

Crawl. Row. Tear your self-worth out with your teeth.

And yes — this post is not about running shoes.
