The story of a single day that mattered more than many.
14.07.2025
Together with volunteers, the police, and simply caring people, we helped fulfill the dream of a teenage girl battling the final stage of cancer.
She dreamed of becoming a police officer. That was her wish — simple, pure, wholehearted. Not “visit Paris,” not “go skydiving,” but — to become part of those who protect others.
And on her birthday, she did.
Three patrol cars, a team, flashing lights, a uniform — and she was real, a police officer. She wasn’t riding as a patient, not as a girl from a hospital, but as an officer — respected, awaited. That day, the city was hers.
This day was organized by volunteers and friends. Many people contributed — from those in uniform to those in mascot costumes, from workers in Odessa’s restaurant and hospitality industries to ordinary caring people.
Thanks to the Patrol Police of Odessa and the region. Thanks to all the departments, the administration, and every person who joined without hesitation. Thank you to Guram Maglaperidze, Andriy Dromov, the team from NEMO dolphinarium, and many others who put a piece of their heart into this day.
I’m deliberately not posting photos. A little time has passed — and maybe now is the right moment to quietly speak about it without violating her privacy.
May the world one day stop spending money on rockets and start investing in cures for cancer and other deadly diseases.
This day wasn’t about celebration.
It was about meaning.
About humanity.
About the truth that kindness is an action.
And if we still have the power to help dreams come true — then not all is lost.
